Computer-Aided Detection

At GCM Radiology, we make use of another highly advanced technique, called Computer-Aided Detection (CAD). Computer-Aided Detection is a computer-based process designed to analyze mammographic images for suspicious areas; in effect, acting as a “second pair of eyes” for the radiologist and therefore alerting the radiologist that there may be some findings which warrant further attention and a “second look.” GCM Radiology as well as the American College of Radiology believes that CAD, when used for screening or diagnostic mammography, is a valuable procedure in the early detection of breast cancer.
